When they're a fake couple but acts like a real one than real ones

This happens to my cats whenever there's something outside they pick up on like coyotes or deer or something close enough to the house to pique their interest and stress them out a bit, once they grow accustomed to whatever it is, their tail "shrinks" and the fur on their back goes down. But my experience has been that it can also be caused by things you wouldn't expect like odd smells and of course weather. I will say though that the tail only looks floofly, it's substance is ephemeral like a dandelion poof, you can see the fluffiness but when you touch it it's like a furry bubble and gives almost no resistance unless your cat has an exceptionally thickly furred tail......Unless you're eating and they stick it in your mouth or food, then it suddenly has the substance of a scrub brush. XD
